@shawnspeed3 Hi Shawn. Anthony has stated in the past that he has always done that and it just feels comfortable for him. Also helps him with control. When he was a kid he played with clubs that weren’t properly fit for him so he had to choke down on the clubs. They were hand me down clubs from his father. So he got used to using this method and it has stuck with him ever since.
@teewoods Wrong answer!! No where near as accurate as Moe Norman..Go back and look a Moe’s swing. Totally different set-up. No one hit the ball as flush as Moe Norman.
@teewoods not “one plain”…If it was the club would be much lower and at the same angle as the set position (like Zack Johnson)… HE’s c;ose but last part of back swing comes off the set up plain and rises above it.
@texasflood54 That’s true, but also players with compact rounded swings like Anthony Kim and Rickie Fowler like to choke down because 1. It feels natural to them like you said, 2. They have fast hands so they prefer to choke down because it creates more leverage making them have to create speed to release the club into the ball on time, and their talent allows them to be able to do this while others cannot. 3. It makes it easier to get around on it with a compact swing. Tiger should try it..
@golfusa09 Yeah but he’s made his swing that way because he chokes down, like texas flood said from using too big of clubs at a younger age. The choking down before the swing got rounded out.

this is one plane guys – moe eat your heart out!!
I choke down on the club a little bit too. It does help with control. But you could also increase control by shortening the backswing a bit.

@shawnspeed3 He has consistency and more control to get the ball on the fairway.

@texasflood54 there were his mothers clubs, and he is now adapted to it. Nike has tried shortnining his clubs, but still he stills chokes down
