I have always heard so many people talking about how the lower body starts the down swing and how you should transfer weight to the left side etc etc but ben explains it the best making it instantly click

The KEY in this video has exactly been pointed out. The right elbow is virtually glued to his right hip which keeps his swing path on plane and consistent. If you do this right, it will feel constricting and awkward at first. But, when you do it like Hogan says, it’s amazing how soft the impact feels in your hands. it feels like you missed the ball, why? Because Hogan has a delayed release into the ball which gives him that wicked lag and feels as though you’re going to miss the ball. Enjoy!

This is the secret. This is Ben Hogan real secret in his golf swing. He did reveal it in his Five Lesson book. The next secret is his waggle. Read the book

    YES!
He didn’t really reveal the true secret to his golfswing with his own story

But the video does reveal the key to his magical accuracy!
    Very well observed NebulousX!
Ben Hogan indeed locks his right elbow to his hip so the club is locked into a straight position.

    THANX my friend :-) !!!!

You got it, Neb. I saw the video of him hitting a wood 10 years ago and saw that right elbow come down and stick to the right hip until the ball is gone. The ball leaves the club about 3 or 4 inches from its resting position. At that point, Hogan’s right elbow is still on his right hip.

  10. lpeluso4 says:

The body turns the club like a hinge swinging a gate and the clubface is exactly square when it reaches the ball. Beautiful. But today, Hogan’s lateral move is gone. We only turn; no downfield sway. And today, the players accelerate the arms so that the right elbow passes the right hip at impact. Watch Tiger. That gives him greater power, but he loses the accuracy Hogan had on every shot.

  11. lpeluso4 says:

This summer (2009) Tiger came back to a 3/4 swing on most of his iron shots, using a longer iron and more compact swing. What was he doing? Watch his right elbow and hip. His accuracy went up as he matched that elbow and hip. Hogan’s genius is not lost. It was Hogan who had this great insight. I think he woke up with it one morning. As Einstein said, “Thoughts come from God.” You can see that flash of insight and its effects in Hogan’s swing — the most precise in history.

    The man..

  13. planetstunt says:

As the club begins to build up speed and the left hip makes the first move down the target line before it turns backward, the width of the stance will hold up just fine. If you have a tendency to lose your balance, your stance might be to narrow. w w w (dot) golferbreak80 (dot) c0m

Don’t ever be afraid to move those legs and hips.Too many pros have their legs/feet planted.Hogan’s move is from the feet up.Left goes up weight goes to right, left heel comes down weight goes to left.Pros practice alot we need to be more free with our legs and feet.
