Well you may just be playing a natural cut in your swing (that’s when you get the small little fades in the air). If you’re really comfortable with how the ball is flying, then don’t change your swing, just play a little left and work with that nice cut. However, if you just hate that little fade (like I did). Then there’s a few things that could be happening; you could be coming over the top a little, bringing the club too much inside in the downswing, or not staying back..

I am Jesus D. Macachor , M.D. To hit long you should be strong, tall, turn your body completely and tuck in your right elbow close to your body in the downswing for good summation of forces between the lower body and the arm swing. And of course 48 inches graphite shaft driver for long Moment Arm. Assuming you have the correct backswing and downswing.
@JasonPichola It could just be your one piece takeaway. Just takeaway in one piece like a log turning without manipulating your driver until your left wrist is about the middle of your stance before you start your upswing. The key is turning your body just behind the middle of your stance.Study the pictures of the professionals at the top of their swing and you will see what I mean. The takeaway has to be straight back.
Shorten the swing and learn where to accelerate. That is the best I can relate things. There is a flat spot at the bottom of the arc that you NEED to learn how to acclerate the WHOLE way through. Again, shorten the backswing and LEARN where to acclerate the clubface. On a good day I am averaging 300+ yards on holes I have my driver out on.
But, also understand what this guy says at the beginning….a WIDE arc produces LONG distance. That goes for all your clubs. It helps to be tall, too! LOL
@jessdmac Yeah the takeaway is as important as getting to the top of your backswing. It sets the groove. The top of the backswing should FEEL short. And like Ben Hogan says, let your lower body start the downswing. No jerking down or speeding down. It should be easy from the top and gradually accelerating all the way through to the 3 o clock position. Then let the club make the rest of the follow-through.
@izzy0210 definitely in the 285 to 300 range. But, you should have comparable distance with all of the clubs in your bag. Think 150+ with the P wedge. Could be less, however, if you’re going that distance you’re getting WAY up in the air. That means when you land your approach, you’re sticking the shot. It’s going to stand within a few feet of where your ball flies to.
@golfhead15 “drive for show, putt for dough….” What they don’t add to that is…”if you aint driving for show, you sure as hell aint puttin for any dough”.
